Terms & conditions
The terms that apply when Jacobs Brothers Construction (“JBC”, “we”) quotes for and carries out work for you.
1. Quotes
We give you a written quote before work starts. A quote is based on the site, plans and information available at the time, and is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise. Hidden conditions, such as poor ground, rot, or existing work that isn’t up to standard, may only show once work begins. If they change the price, we tell you before carrying on.
2. Scope and changes
We do the work described in the accepted quote. Changes or extra work you ask for along the way are quoted separately, and only done once you agree. Where plans, municipal approval or engineer’s sign-off are needed, we agree upfront who arranges and pays for them.
3. Deposits and payment
Most jobs need a deposit before we order materials and book the team. Larger jobs are paid in stages as agreed in the quote. The final payment is due on completion. Materials stay our property until they are paid for.
4. Site access
You give us safe access to the site during agreed working hours, along with water and electricity where needed. Please remove or protect valuables and furniture in the work area. We keep the site as tidy as building work allows and clean up when we finish.
5. Materials
We supply materials as listed in the quote. If you supply your own materials or fittings, we fit them with care but can’t warrant the items themselves, or labour that needs redoing because they failed.
6. Timeframes
We give you an estimated timeframe with the quote. Weather, material shortages, load-shedding, changes you request or conditions found on site can cause delays. We let you know as soon as we expect a delay.
7. Workmanship warranty
Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act apply to our work. If something we built or installed is defective because of our workmanship, tell us and we come back to inspect and fix it. The warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear, damage from misuse, accidents or weather events, work changed by others afterwards, or materials you supplied.
8. Cancellations and refunds
You may cancel before work starts. If you cancel, we refund your deposit less the cost of materials already bought or made for your job that can’t be returned, and any work already done. Refunds are paid by EFT within 14 days.
9. Liability
We take reasonable care on site. We are not responsible for faults in existing structures, services or work that weren’t part of our job, or for underground services that weren’t shown to us before we started digging.
10. Contact
For questions about these terms, phone or WhatsApp 083 565 1026.
